Wealthy but Unhealthy Overweight and Obesity in Asia and the Pacific: Trends, Costs, and Policies for Better Health

Helble, Matthias; Sato, Azusa | June 2018
    Abstract
Two of five adults in the Asia and Pacific region are overweight and obese. The costs associated with these conditions undermine economic growth in the region as well as the achievement of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly on health. Drawing upon a wide array of experts from the region, this book compiles a series of studies examining the trends and prevalence and economic costs of obesity and overweight, as well as related policy recommendations. Giving rise to thought-provoking issues, the book is an invaluable read and sets foundations for future research and policy making in this area.
