Energy for All: Asia's Night Skies Reveal Growth and Gaps in Electrification
Asian Development Bank | September 2011
Abstract
The images in this brochure compare and contrast night sky views of Asia and the Pacific from 1992 and 2009 - a 17-year span. As modern energy powers development and economic growth, the expansion of brightly lit areas and the increased brightness of existing areas show how access to electricity has increased across Asia and the Pacific. Conversely, there are areas that remain dark, despite the fact that they contain substantial populations.
