dc.description.abstract | Updated yearly, this ADB Fact Sheet provides social and economic indicators on Timor-Leste as well as concise information on ADB's operations in the country and contact information. Timor-Leste had its independence restored in May 2002 and joined ADB in 2002. It has made significant progress since independence but faces many of the challenges common to postconflict states, including high levels of poverty, some fragility, weak public and private sector capacity, poor infrastructure, and limited economic opportunities. While it is now receiving considerable offshore petroleum revenues, Timor-Leste remains primarily an agricultural, subsistence economy. | |
