Asian Development Bank and Republic of the Marshall Islands: Fact Sheet

Abstract
The Republic of the Marshall Islands is an atoll nation located in a rich fishery in the north Pacific. The country remains susceptible to external economic shocks, and annual grant assistance under the Compact of Free Association with the United States has been diminishing since 2003. The Asian Development Bank has been working with the government of since 1990, and has approved 14 loans for $92.63 million, 50 technical assistance projects for $21.48 million, and three grants for $2.06 million. Cumulative disbursements to the Republic of Marshall Islands for lending and grants amounted to $79.3 million.
