Asian Development Bank; Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH | August 2015
Abstract
The Sri Lanka Country Gender Assessment Update revises information and data presented in the 2008
Country Gender Assessment published by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). It was prepared jointly
by ADB and GIZ and comprises two main sections: first, an overview of the situation of women in Sri Lanka,
which identifies gender gaps in various sectors; and second, a review of gender equality policy initiatives in
the country. An appendix contains a table identifying gender equality issues in various areas such as women’s
rights, political representation, health education, and postconflict recovery.
