Abstract
Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Issyk-Kul Sustainable Development Project (ISDP) aimed to improve urban basic sewerage, sanitation, solid waste management (SWM), and water supply in the cities of Balykchy, Cholpon-Ata, and Karakol. The project covered services and urban infrastructure that most needed improvement. The infrastructure was dilapidated and without adequate operation and maintenance (O&M) and investments for more than 18 years. The project also aimed to develop the capacity of responsible city-level agencies to maintain the system.
