Social Protection Brief: Reforming Social Welfare Programs in Mongolia

Abstract
Social welfare in Mongolia consists of transfers and services designed to support poor and vulnerable groups such as the elderly, orphaned, and people with disabilities. The main objective, as defined in the Social Welfare Law, is to protect and assist the elderly without social security, people with disabilities, groups of people perceived to be vulnerable, and those assessed to be poor based on a proxy means test.
