Abstract

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is dedicated to reducing poverty in Asia and the Pacific through inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth, and regional integration. Established in 1966, it is owned by 67 members—48 from the region—who have committed $247.28 billion in loans to the vision of a region free of poverty. Despite the region’s many successes, it remains home to the majority of the world’s poor. Ireland has contributed $485.57 million in capital subscription as of 31 December 2016. It has contributed and committed the equivalent of $79.20 million to Special Funds since joining in 2006.
