The economic contribution of marine farming in the Thames-Coromandel District
Pambudi, Daniel; Clough, Peter | February 2017
Aquaculture creates demand, both directly and indirectly, among industries that support it and the households that receive income from it. It contributes to exports, jobs and value added production and stimulates growth in other industries such as construction, transport, retailing, education and hospitality. Aquaculture is a key part of the social and economic fabric in the communities of Coromandel town ship, Manaia and Whitianga where the majority of sector employees live and work.
