Abstract
The People’s Republic of China (PRC) has achieved remarkable growth and development sinceThe People's Republic of China (PRC) has achieved remarkable growth and development since initiating economic reforms in 1979. Sustained growth has fuelled unprecedented poverty reduction, with hundreds of millions of people lifted out of poverty in the past 30 years. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is proud to have contributed to these accomplishments. The PRC has received a total of $22.96 billion in loans assistance since joining the ADB in 1986, making it the second largest ADB borrower and the largest client for private sector financing. This publication commemorates the 25th anniversary of ADB's operations in the PRC.
