Abstract

Updated yearly, this ADB Fact Sheet provides social and economic indicators on Viet Nam as well as concise information on ADB's operations in the country and contact information.Viet Nam is one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia, recording average annual gross domestic product (GDP) growth of about 7.5% over the last decade, and 8.5% in 2007. Robust domestic demand and a strong export performance has underpinned this growth, which—along with Government-led targeted interventions—has helped reduce poverty. General poverty incidence over the last decade has fallen from about 58% in 1993, to 27.8% in 1996 and to 24.1% in 2004.
