Asian Development Bank and Kazakhstan: Fact Sheet
Asian Development Bank | April 2009
Updated yearly, this ADB Fact Sheet provides social and economic indicators on Kazakhstan as well as concise information on ADB's operations in the country and contact information. Major reduction in commodity prices in late 2008 underline the importance to diversify the economy. In light of the impact of the world financial crisis on the banking sector, improvement in the performance of the country’s banks is needed in order to sustain finance to trade and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) lending capacity, to diversify the economy, enhance competitiveness, and ensure more equitable development. These measures should be augmented by fiscal and monetary policy coordination.
