Asian Development Bank and Kazakhstan: Fact Sheet
Asian Development Bank | June 2010
Updated yearly, this ADB Fact Sheet provides social and economic indicators on Kazakhstan as well as concise information on ADB's operations in the country and contact information. Kazakhstan has made notable progress in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). After the successful implementation of its state poverty reduction program from 2002 to 2005, the Government of Kazakhstan is now focusing mainly on social assistance and the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to create more jobs. Improvements in public services and greater accountability for budgetary processes, especially at the local government level, are also priorities for reducing poverty.
