The Mekong Region: Economic and Social Impact of Projects
Asian Development Bank | June 2005
Abstract
The case study provides evidence that road improvement in rural areas can contribute to lowering poverty incidence, improving educational participation of primary school-age children, and reducing rates of illness. In the developing Mekong subregion, these findings have particular relevance and give added weight to national and regional investment programs, particularly those targeting the rural poor.
