Asian Development Bank | November 2015
Abstract
Gender equality is a stated priority of the Government of Solomon Islands in achieving national development
goals. This assessment examines the progress toward gender equality across social, economic, and political
spheres in Solomon Islands, such as health, education, work, political participation, and gender-based
violence. It brings together existing research and data for a comprehensive overview of gender disparities in
Solomon Islands and recommends strategies to support the government’s commitment toward achieving
gender equality.
