Asian Development Bank | November 2001
Abstract
Pakistan’s macroeconomic indicators have significantly improved over the last threeyears. The fiscal deficit has declined, inflation is low, exports have started to grow, the balance-of-payments deficit has declined and foreign exchange reserves are increasing. However, thesegains need to be consolidated by continuing the ongoing structural adjustment and stabilizationprograms with a view to attaining long-run sustained growth and reduction in poverty levels.
