Beirne, John; Fernandez, David G. | December 2021
Abstract
This book provides an overview of the implications of digitalization for sustainable economic development, with a focus on perspectives from Asia and the Pacific. It features new research on the role of digitalization in enhancing sustainable, inclusive, and balanced growth in the region. The objectives of the book are threefold: (i) to provide insights on the impact of digitalization on trade and economic performance, particularly in Asia; (ii) to improve our understanding of the channels through which digitalization affects firms and the labor market; and (iii) to highlight prevailing and future policy challenges posed by digitalization. It brings together a set of 14 papers, many of which were presented at a conference organized by the Asian Development Bank Institute and the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics at Singapore Management University.
